  This is the most impressive collection of telephone equipment I've ever seen! Besides an impressive collection of telephones spanning the history of telephony, they have lineman's tools and more. Adequate signage and interpretive text make this an educational delight. There is a working operator-assisted telephone switch from the early days, which was used in Gridley through the seventies, when they jumped from manual switching to touch-tone service, bypassing direct-dialed rotary (pulse) equipment. This unique circumstance and the fact that the company stayed in the family for many years, provided the wealth of history on display. It's worth the drive off the beaten path to see this museum!
